Aspen Middle School Mission Statement

We nourish the mind, body, and spirit to empower lifelong learners who contribute to making the world a better place.

We achieve this through:

  • Rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) classes.
  • Physical activity, wellness education, and time in nature.
  • Connecting with our community, reflecting on one’s actions, and learning through service and outdoor education.

*Our school mission is built on the foundation of the Aspen Ideal, a place where mind, body, and spirit flourish, in addition to supporting the Aspen School District mission, and embodying the International Baccalaureate mission.

*We support the development of the IB learner profile attributes in students. These include balanced, caring, communicator, inquirer, knowledgeable, open-minded, principled, reflective, risk-taker, and thinker.

*We teach students “approaches to learning” in self-management, communication, social, research, and thinking skills through all of their classes and learning experiences.

Aspen Middle School is a candidate school for the Middle Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students. Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes visit http://www.ibo.org
